networking strategy, a good online profile and tailored job search tools, it becomes significantly more

Often when we think of professional networking, we believe we will have to join another social media platform, LinkedIn. While LinkedIn is not the only tool available for this purpose, it is one of the most widely used. A great majority of companies, nonprofits and government agencies have a presence on LinkedIn and you can make, and leverage connections on the platform itself or stay in touch with people you have met.
Getting started on the platform can seem like a major task but once it is set up, maintaining it is not as challenging. Our tip: download the app and turn on notifications. That will allow you to be active without too much effort.
Networking is all about building and maintaining authentic connections. Then when you need help from those with whom you have connected, someone will be there to answer the call. Keep in mind, it should be a mutually beneficial relationship, so when you reach out for a connection to a job or other opportunity, make sure you have been there to support and champion those you have reached out to as well.
The job search is tedious and can be an amazing experience or it can be completely discouraging. Make sure to leverage your resources – your faculty and instructors at the University of Arizona, peers in your courses, your colleagues, etc. Be ready with strong application materials and a job search strategy. Having a plan, using the right tools, and setting aside time to complete the process can be a game changer when it comes to landing the right job for you.
