Maggie has over 35 years of experience in the human services field working for juvenile and adult probation, law enforcement, child welfare, Indian child welfare, juvenile courts, and community service agencies. Her experience includes client case management, program development, grant writing, program evaluation, program management and training. Her academic degrees include a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University, a Master’s in Counseling from Illinois State University, and a Doctorate in Human Service Administration from Walden University. Maggie is an Adjunct Instructor for the Human Services Program at CAST/University of Arizona. Most recently, Maggie was a full -time instructor at Arizona State University in the Leadership and Interdisciplinary Studies program-College of Integrative Sciences and Arts.


Her areas of focus for research have been Children and Families of the Incarcerated as well as the impact of mentoring for youth living in at-risk settings. She is a certified cognitive skills instructor as well as a certified marriage and family therapist. Maggie has worked in the fields of criminal justice, child welfare, and research and evaluation.


In her spare time she loves to travel, horseback ride and kayak. Maggie lives in Tucson, Arizona and her motivations for teaching at the college level are the moments when students are able to grasp a concept they have been struggling with during the course. Maggie is a scholar practitioner and continues to work towards combining academic study and theory with the actual reality of real world practice in the classroom setting.
