Kristen Welch

I've been teaching at the college level for over twenty-two years. I teach courses in Technical Writing, Professional Writing, Advanced Composition, Women's Rhetorics, and others. I just published my fourth book, Meet Me on the Battlefield, with Wipf and Stock. This book is written for college students who want to learn the basics of feminist history and theory, but I also use my research on women preachers to discuss the role they played in women gaining the right to speak publicly in the U.S., my research on female seminaries and academies to discuss how education has helped to give women opportunities, and my research on visual rhetoric to discuss the power of images to empower or to denigrate women. I began teaching for the University of Arizona as a graduate student in 2002 and returned to teaching as a faculty associate in 2012. I have enjoyed teaching composition courses on the Main Campus, and I currently teach Advanced Composition online for CAST.
