Course Description

CYBV 442 will provide students with an overview of how to design effective cyber policies while taking into account modern legal considerations across major industries. Students will be presented with governance frameworks, the cybersecurity policy life cycle, and how to write formal policies. Students will design an information security plan (ISP) that addresses key aspects of the organization’s response to regulation.

Learning Outcomes

The student will:

  • Apply understanding of core requirements to develop proposals for satisfying regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze current regulations imposed on Cyber Operations (NYDFS, PCIDSS, EO12333, etc.)
  • Evaluate the impact cyber regulations have on industry sectors.
  • Design effective policies for securing communications, operations, and access.
  • Construct cybersecurity program components into a coherent framework for action.
