Alex Hernandez

Academic Advisor II

Alex Hernandez is an Academic Advisor II for the CAST, advising CAST majors, minors, and certifications for main campus programs.

Prior to joining the College of Applied Science & Technology, Alex accumulated his experience as an Academic Advisor in Speech Language and Hearing Science at the College of Science. His seven-year tenure at the U of A involved advising various majors, including computer science and elementary education. Before his advising role, he served as a student academic specialist in the Office of Academic Affairs on campus, assisting students with their transfer credits. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Care, Health & Society. He furthered his education by earning a Master of Education in Higher Education from Northern Arizona University.

He enjoys exploring new places around town, trying new food and coffee shops, going to UA sports events, and spending time with friends and family.

“The student's academic journey is like going on a road trip. The student is the driver, and the advisor is the passenger with the map. The advisor provides directions, but the student is the one driving”. It’s a team effort between the student and the advisor to reach that destination.“
